SRU ends 4-game losing skid

Chaquille Pratt scored 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds while Malcolm Richardson and Naquil Jones both scored 10 points as the Slippery Rock University men's basketball team erased an 11-point deficit to down California (Pa.) University, 61-56, at Morrow Field House Saturday afternoon.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak by The Rock (9-9 overall, 4-8 in the PSAC-West).

CCAC 98, Butler County Community College 86 — Austin Miller scored 31 points and also had 10 assists to lead the Pioneers (2-15, 2-2).

Women's Basketball

Lexi Carpenter scored a game-high 16 points, but The Rock was unable to overcome 21 turnovers and 22 California (Pa.) University offensive rebounds in a 64-52 home loss.

The Rock (8-9, 5-7) shot a season-low 28.8 percent from the floor.

Indoor Track and FieldSabrina Anderson shattered her own Slippery Rock University record in the pentathlon to lead The Rock women's indoor track and field team at the Al Hall Freedom Games at Edinboro University Saturday.Anderson won the pentathlon with a score of 3,735, which broke her school record of 3,549 set last season.Anderson also hit the NCAA provisional mark in the high jump at 1.69 meters and reached the qualifying mark in four of the five pentathlon events.Kaitlyn Clark also won the pole vault at 3.68 meters.Ashley West won the high jump, Leah Ann Wirfel the mile and Butler graduates Jasmine Bailey and Kennedy Evans also won events.Bailey captured the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.06 while Evans claimed first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.85.
