NexTier announces merger completion

KITTANNING — NexTier announced Friday it has completed it’s merger with Eureka Financial of Pittsburgh.

The newly combined community bank will keep the NexTier Bank name. It has total assets in excess of $1.1 billion and 26 branches in Allegheny, Armstrong and Butler counties.

Mark Karenchak, the chairman of the board of NexTier, will continue in that role. Richard J. Krauland, president and CEO of NexTier, will continue to serve in those positions.

Edward F. Seserko, president and CEO of Eureka Bank, will join Krauland as a member of the NexTier Bank board of directors.

The merger of Eureka into NexTier enhances NexTier’s geographic footprint, the company said in a news release.

“This strategic combination strengthens our presence in the Allegheny County market,” Krauland said in the release.

The merger will offer Eureka customers more services such as tablet banking, enhanced consumer and commercial lending products, investment services and personal insurance.
