Rally from 3 goals down, score 5-3 win

WASHINGTON — Alex Ovechkin and T.J. Oshie both finished with two goals and two assists and Marcus Johansson got the tiebreaking goal with 5:44 left to help Washington rally from three goals down and beat Tampa Bay 5-3.

The Capitals now have won four straight games overall and seven straight at home. They fell behind 3-0 midway through the second period but scored the game’s final five goals — including four in the third period.

Johansson broke a 3-3 tie on his power-play goal from the right side after a pass from Oshie. Ovechkin also got an assist.

Ovechkin scored the team’s other two power-play goals. Oshie added an empty-net goal. Nicklas Backstrom earned his 600th career point with an assist on the final Oshie goal.

Alex Killorn, Andrej Sustr and Steven Stamkos each scored once for Tampa Bay.

OTTAWA, Ontario — Bobby Ryan had a goal and an assist, Craig Anderson made 31 saves and Ottawa got its fourth straight home win.

Ottawa has won just two of its past five games. Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Chris Wideman and Erik Karlsson also scored.

Joe Thornton and Brent Burns had the goals for the Sharks, and Alex Stalock made 31 saves.

Pageau started and finished the play that gave the Senators a 2-1 lead 8:22 into the third period. After Pageau’s faceoff win, Cody Ceci took a shot, and then Dave Dziurzynski fired the rebound back at net. Stalock got a piece of Dziurzynski’s shot but left the rebound right on the goal line for Pageau to poke in.

Wideman got the eventual winner and Karlsson provided some insurance with goals later in the period.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Roberto Luongo made 24 saves, Willie Mitchell scored 4:09 into the third period and Florida beat Carolina for its third straight win.

Mitchell got his first goal of the season on a slap shot to put Florida up 1-0. He beat goalie Cam Ward to the glove side, and Jonathan Huberdeau and Aleksander Barkov picked up assists. It was just the 34th goal for Mitchell in 894 NHL games.

Reilly Smith added an empty-net goal with 21 seconds left. Smith has scored in four straight games.

The Panthers have outscored opponents 12-2 during their three-game streak and have beaten Carolina five straight times, including 4-1 in the teams’ first meeting Oct. 13.
