W.Va. scores big win
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Jevon Carter’s big game was no mystery to his coach.
Carter scored 21 points and No. 14 West Virginia reached triple digits for the third time in nine games this season, rebounding from its first loss with a 100-58 victory Sunday over Louisiana-Monroe.
Daxter Miles Jr. added 18 points for the Mountaineers (8-1), who set a season high with 15 3-pointers following a 70-54 loss to No. 10 Virginia on Tuesday night at the Jimmy V Classic in New York.
West Virginia used a flurry of 3s to open a 31-11 lead in the first half and was never threatened. The Mountaineers went 15 for 36 from long range and held Louisiana-Monroe to 1 for 8. Carter, Miles and Jaysean Paige each hit four 3s.
“You don’t have to worry about my confidence. You have to worry about (Carter),” West Virginia coach Bob Huggins said.
