Meeting on new VA health center slated for Monday

LYNDORA — A public meeting to discuss the VA Butler Healthcare center which is being built in Center Township is planned for Monday.

U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd of Butler, will host the meeting with officials from the central office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs at the American Legion Post 778 in Lyndora.

His office announced the meeting today.

The Community Leaders Roundtable will run from 5:30 to 6: 30 p.m. at the post’s headquarters at 150 Legion Memorial Lane. It will feature, among other speakers, David Cord, VA Butler Healthcare System director.

The 168,000-square-foot health care center is being built by Cambridge Healthcare Solutions PA. When completed by December 2017, the Department of Veterans Affairs will rent the facility for 20 years for $163 million.
