Woman's death at McConnells Mill not suspicious

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP, Lawrence County — Foul play is not suspected in the death of a 22-year-old Grove City woman whose body was found Thursday morning at McConnells Mill State Park, authorities said.

A hiker walking with a dog found the body about 10:30 a.m. in woods near Slippery Rock Creek midway between two bridges.

An autopsy was done Thursday but investigators, citing the need to notify next of kin, did not immediately release any findings.

Lawrence County Deputy Coroner Sam Teolis said this morning that her death was not considered suspicions. A cause and manner is still pending, he said.

It appeared the woman died Thursday morning, shortly before her body was found.

State police were notified but later handed off the investigation to park rangers. Jake Weiland, assistant park manager, could not be reached this morning for comment.

Fire departments from Portersville, Ellwood City, and Wurtemburg-Perry assisted at the scene.
