Mold forces closure of ICU at Pgh. VAPITTSBURGH — The intensive care unit of a Veterans Affairs hospital in Pittsburgh has been shut down after technicians found mold in a ventilation system.Technicians discovered the mold in an air handler during routine maintenance at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System hospital in the city's Oakland neighborhood.Six patients were moved from the unit before maintenance work began. VA officials said Monday no patients have been harmed.Hospital officials expect the ICU to reopen this week.

Ex-teacher admits to kissing student, 12MCKEESPORT — A former Western Pennsylvania teacher has admitted to hugging and kissing a 12-year-old student in his classroom.Cole McLaughlin, 23, pleaded guilty Monday to institutional sexual assault and endangering a minor. Prosecutors say the girl's father went to police after discovering messages in the girl's phone from the former South Allegheny Middle School teacher.He'll be sentenced Feb. 16. McLaughlin is contesting charges in a separate case that he sent photos of himself naked to a 17-year-old student.
