SRU rolls to 94-73 victory
Cornelius Brown scored 23 points and had 22 rebounds as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team overcame a sluggish first half and routed Penn State Greater Allegheny 94-73 at Morrow Field House Monday night.
The win was also the 144th of SRU men’s basketball coach Kevin Reynolds career at The Rock. That ties Reynolds for second on the all-time list with Hank Baierl, who coached from 1958 to 1970.
But it was Brown’s show Monday. The senior center was 10-for-14 from the field, blocked four shots and had nine offensive rebounds.
It was the best point-rebound night for a Rock player since Devin Taylor tallied 19 points and 22 rebounds in early 2012.
Chaquille Pratt added 17 points for The Rock (6-4), which led just 33-32 late in the first half and 38-32 at the break.
The Rock outscored Greater Allegheny 62-24 in the paint.
