Pitt, PSU, W.Va. get bowl bids
Three area college football programs learned where they will be going bowling Sunday.
Pitt didn’t land in the top tier of the Atlantic Coast Conference’s bowl choices. Instead, the Panthers will have a chance to renew an old rivalry with Navy Dec. 28 in Annapolis, Md., in the Military Bowl. The Midshipmen are 9-2 and ranked No. 23 nationally.
Penn State will take on Georgia in the TaxSlayer Bowl Jan. 2 in Jacksonville, Fla.
West Virginia will play Arizona State and former Pitt coach Todd Graham in the Cactus Bowl Jan. 2 in Phoenix.
