HARRISBURG — Newly filed post-election reports show the candidates in this year’s race for Pennsylvania’s highest court set a record of more than $12 million in contributions.

Campaign finance reports on file Friday confirmed nearly $10 million of the total, much of it from organized labor and trial lawyers, went to the Democrats who swept all three open seats.

Philadelphia Judge Kevin Dougherty raised the most, $4.6 million. Superior Court Judge David Wecht took in $3.3 million and Christine Donohue, also a Superior Court judge, received about $2 million.

The new justices will take their seats when the court convenes Jan. 4.
