Practice rink owner charged
PITTSBURGH — The owner of a practice rink formerly used by the Pittsburgh Penguins has been charged with dodging payroll taxes, even since he was indicted on charges of doing the same thing.
The former attorney for 60-year-old Steven Lynch, of Pittsburgh, denied the charges filed last year as “totally unfounded.” Lynch’s new attorney didn’t return messages seeking comment on a superseding indictment Wednesday.
Lynch owns IceoPlex at Southpointe, a sports bar, and other businesses connected with the development. Prosecutors contend Lynch ordered underlings not to pay the government federal income, Social Security, and Medicare taxes deducted from worker paychecks from 2008 to 2011.
