Vicki Ann (Baker) Curl
Vicki Ann (Baker) Curl, 60, of Slippery Rock passed away due to complications the morning of Oct. 14 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born Nov. 7, 1954, in Beaver Falls to Merrill and Marjorie Baker, Vicki was the first of five children and the only daughter.
She attended and graduated from Center Township schools. She loved volleyball and work that used her mind and got her hands dirty. Vicki was always one of the guys and could hold her own through the thickness of life.
Cooking was not only what she loved to do, but something she lived for, always clipping and saving new recipes to try on the next person with an empty plate. Vicki also loved to garden, having the greenest of thumbs, and always took the best care of her plants and flowers, another talent all her family admired about her.
She had a great mind for solving problems and inventing time-saving methods for everyday pains, truly innovative with little things. It was amazingly simple sometimes.
Animals were another one of her passionate outlets. Vicki ran a small kennel that served the local area for many years breading miniature Dachshunds and Yorkshire terriers, a new member of her brood being a miniature horse named Pirate.
A devoted wife and loving mother, a strong and dynamic woman, a grandmother with a growing army, we all grieve heavily as Vicki left us far too soon. We will miss her always.
Vicki is preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Merrill; and one brother, Robert Baker.
Those who survive her and continue to celebrate her life are her husband and best friend, Richard Curl; her stepmother, Rose Ellen Baker-Eberhardt; her brothers, Jamie Baker, Steve Baker and Jeff Baker; her daughters, Marjorie (Curl) Leek, Marissa Curl and Malinda Curl; her grandchildren, Bryan Bonilla-Curl, Elliott Leek and Abygael Thomas; and her soon to be born grandchild, Ellianna Thomas.
CURL— There will be no services for Vicki Ann Curl, who died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015.In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the Humane Society in Vicki Ann (Baker) Curl's name so that animals all over can continue to receive love and care because of her.
