Baxter shining for BC3

Butler County Community College freshman Julia Baxter continued torturing the opposition Wednesday night in a victory over Penn State University Greater Allegheny in McKeesport.

Baxter, who is a Butler High School graduate, recorded 38 points and 17 rebounds for the Pioneers (3-2). Christina Davis also recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Alycia Brehm, a Moniteau graduate, had 10 assists.

Baxter also had 26 points and 10 rebounds in BC3's 87-46 win over PSU DuBois Tuesday.

Davis added 13 points and 12 rebounds, Kalynn Callihan 11 points and six assists, and Tiffany Montgomery 10 points and Alycia Brehm four assists for the Pioneers (2-2).

Edinboro 83, Slippery Rock University 66 — The Rock never recovered after stumbling at the start of their PSAC West opener at McComb Fieldhouse.

SRU (2-1, 0-1) trailed 20-10 after the first quarter. Rock junior guard Lexi Carpenter led SRU with 22 points and seven assists.

Ciara Patterson also scored 16 points for The Rock.

Men's basketballSRU saw a five-point halftime lead evaporate during an 80-74 loss to Edinboro in their PSAC West opener Wednesday at McComb Fieldhouse.The Rock led 35-30 at halftime. Cornelius Brown led SRU with a double-double, finishing with 26 points and 12 rebounds.Chaquille Pratt (17 points), Malcolm Richardson (13) an Dontay Jackson (12) also finished in double figures for The Rock.PSU DuBois 98, BC3 73 — Austin Miller had 23 points and seven assists for the Pioneers (0-4) Tuesday night while Markel Peace scored 15 points.
