No charges for Glade Run
Butler County District Attorney Rich Goldinger announced Wednesday afternoon no criminal charges will be filed against Glade Run Lutheran Services after an investigation into child-on-child sexual abuse at one of its facilities.
---- “We can't establish that any of the adults actually knew what was going on,” Goldinger said. “There's a concern about being able to prove that they abused their duty of care of these children.”
---- Glade Run is a residential treatment facility that houses nearly 100 youths ages 8 to 21.
---- The facility was stripped of its license by the state Department of Human Services after it was found that seven youths between ages 8 and 13, mostly male, engaged in sexual activity with each other while personnel were not adequately performing their duties.
---- “There's no evidence at this point that any of it was not consensual,” Goldinger said. “We don't believe we can prove it in court. It doesn't look like there's going to be anything coming this.”
---- The Zelienople Police Department had been investigating the matter for nearly the past four months.
---- The facility is going through the appeals process with the DHS to try and get its license back.
---- Goldinger said while no charges will be filed, employees should be “looked at as being blamed.”
