Butler PoliceTuesday — Police charged Carlos A. Medina, 33, of Butler in connection with a suspected weekend heroin overdose at an apartment in the 300 block of North McKean Street.Emergency crews were called about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 8 to the home where they found Medina lying on the floor near the front door. He was “unconscious and not breathing,” according to court documents.Paramedics revived Medina with the anti-opioid medication Narcan. He admitted he injected two bags of heroin, documents said. Police said a search of the apartment turned up two stamp bags of suspected heroin, a syringe and cooking spoon.Medina, who does not live at the apartment, admitted the contraband was his, police said. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for further treatment. He is charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Butler Twp PoliceThursday — Police charged Michael P. Wolfe, 38, of Kittanning with driving under the influence stemming from a traffic stop about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 2 on Route 8 north. In addition to DUI, Wolfe is charged with driving at an unsafe speed, careless driving, disobeying traffic control devices and disregarding traffic lanes.Thursday — Robert D. Ernst, 42, of Butler was charged with drunken driving in connection with a traffic stop about 1:45 a.m. Nov. 1 on Whitestown Road.Ernst is charged with DUI, driving without insurance, making an improper turn, disregarding traffic lanes and careless driving.

State Police, Butler9:49 p.m. Sunday — One person was hurt in a one-vehicle crash that closed a portion of Interstate 79 in Jackson Township.A police report was not immediately available but a 911 report indicated that the southbound vehicle overturned, trapping one person under it. Authorities said the victim was taken to UPMC Passavant in Cranberry Township.The Zelienople and Harmony volunteer fire departments assisted at the scene.Sunday — Police reported they are investigating a jewelry theft last month in Jefferson Township. Two “high value” jewelry items were taken Oct. 28 from a 55-year-old man on Saxonburg Road, according to a police report.Police said their investigation continues but they provided no other information about the theft.10 p.m. Saturday — A 29-year-old West Sunbury man was caught with suspected drugs and other contraband during an investigation of a possible unauthorized use of a vehicle. Police did not identify the suspect, who faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

State Police, Kittanning12:32 p.m. Thursday — Cars driven by David A. Kightlinger, 29, of Kittanning and Beth Ann Kaufman, 36, of Karns City collided at Kittanning Hollow and Rodgers roads in Sugarcreek Township. Police said Kightlinger faces tickets for failing to stop at a stop sign and driving with a suspended license. Kaufman faces tickets for driving at an unsafe speed and not wearing a seat belt.3:19 p.m. Wednesday — Travis N. Fencil, 21, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a 28-year-old woman at her home on Armstrong Avenue in Apollo.Fencil was arraigned on charges of simple assault, harassment, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Armstrong County Jail on $5,000 bail following arraignment.Nov. 5 — A 25-year-old Butler woman, who police did not identify, is suspected of stealing an unspecified amount of currency from a cash register at the Jiffy Mini Mart in Worthington. Police said the theft investigation continues.Oct. 24 — An unknown vandal damaged several doors of an abandoned building on Tank Hill Road in Bradys Bend Township. The vandalism happened between Oct. 1 and 24.

State Police, Mercer5:30 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Juan M. Rivera, 45, of Miamisburg, Ohio, traveled down a small embankment after hitting a deer on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.6:21 p.m. Wednesday — A teenager was arrested and jailed after allegedly assaulting two staff members at the George Junior Republic detention facility in Pine Township, where he was being held.The suspect, 18-year-old Theodore Walton, is accused of repeatedly punching one staff member in the face and head, and, while being restrained, spitting in the face of another staff member three times.Walton was arraigned on two counts of aggravated assault, and charges of assault by a prisoner and aggravated harassment by a prisoner, all felonies. He is being held in the Mercer County Jail on $25,000 bail.
