CHERRY TWP — Moniteau is looking for a new girls basketball coach just three weeks before the season starts.

That is because the Moniteau School District has opened up that position, according to John Stoughton, athletic director.

Stoughton said the school will start taking applications right away.

Matt Stebbins has coached the Warriors the past three seasons and compiled a record of 41-28.

Moniteau made the playoffs all three seasons that Stebbins has coached and went 15-9 with a first-round playoff win last season.

Moniteau will start regular season play Dec. 4 and the first practice date is Nov. 16.

Stoughton declined to comment on why Moniteau decided to open the position.

Stebbins also would not comment.
