[naviga:h3]Kelly hosts call-in forum on Tuesday[/naviga:h3]

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd, of Butler will host a toll-free telephone town hall meeting Tuesday for residents to ask questions about the Medicare open enrollment period.

The phone meeting will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday. To participate, dial 877-228-2184 and enter ID 19013 at the time of the event.

The call-in will feature input from representatives at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Social Security Administration, and the Senior Health Insurance Company of Pennsylvania.

[naviga:h3]Events scheduled to honor veterans[/naviga:h3]

Here are several of the scheduled public events to remember Veterans Day, which is Wednesday

- On Tuesday, Karns City High School will host a program at 1 p.m. in the school auditorium. The public is invited.

- On Wednesday, VA Butler Healthcare will host a ceremony at 9 a.m. It will feature a speech by John Cyprian, the director of Butler County Veterans Services, and remarks by, Robert Ripper, the county’s Veteran of the Year

- On Wednesday, the annual Veterans Day Parade will be at 10:40 a.m. on Main Street in Butler.

- On Wednesday, Slippery Rock University will host a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Russell Wright Alumni House. Capt. Joseph Barrow, an SRU professor of military science, will receive the Purple Heart. SRU also will host a breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Smith Student Center Ballroom.

[naviga:h3]Free CPR training offered on Saturday[/naviga:h3]

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Township Emergency Medical Service will host a free CPR training event at the township municipal center on Saturday.

Participants can show up anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the five-minute, “hands only” training.

The “hands only” CPR course will teach participants to call 911 to get help and to start chest compressions until EMS arrive. The event is part of a national initiative to get as many people trained in CPR to increase survival rates for sudden cardiac arrest.

There is no fee, and all participants will receive a certificate of completion.
