Lee gets another term in Adams

Served 24 years as supervisor

ADAMS TWP — Linda Lees will continue to serve on the board of supervisors after a fairly close race against opponent Charles Clark.

Lees, a Republican, got 1,370 votes to 982 for Clark, who is a Democrat.

Lees beat Clark in two of the township’s three precincts. but Clark got 392 votes to Lees’ 381 in the Adams 1 precinct.

Clark began attending township supervisors meetings as a member of the Mars School District parent group that opposes the shale gas wells on the Bob and Kim Geyer farm 0.6 miles from the nearest school.

Clark in July 2014 filed a petition with the county Bureau of Elections to have the number of supervisors in Adams decreased from five to three. The township supervisors voted the following month against placing the referendum on the ballot.

The referendum was not placed on the 2014 ballot in Adams.

Lees has been a township supervisor for 24 years, and will serve another six with the win on Tuesday night.

“I was humbled by the return,” Lees said after the results came in. “I was just so happy and pleased that the voters thought I have done a good job for 24 years.”

She said she plans to continue to guide the growing township on the right path.

“I will keep in tune with the people of Adams Township and help the township keep growing in a positive direction,” Lees said.

Clark could not be reached for comment on Tuesday night.
