Butler police file additional charges against woman, 31
Butler police last week filed a pair of drug charges against a woman already jailed on unrelated charges that she stole money from two elderly residents at a Jefferson Township assisted living facility.
Ricki Lee Double, 31, no known address, was found with drugs and other contraband when city officers caught her Oct. 18 at the Terrace Apartments on South Cliff Street.
Police on Oct. 28 charged Double with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors.
The Butler officers were called to the Terrace Apartments about 11:50 a.m. Oct. 18 after tenants reported a woman asking for money, according to court documents.
A short time later, police found Double trying to hide behind an electrical box next to the building.
Officers recognized Double, who they knew was wanted by state police on charges that she stole $270 from two elderly men at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Jefferson Township on Oct. 11 and 12.
She is accused of posing as an employee at the assisted living facility to get into the victims’ rooms and take a combined $270, documents said.
Butler police said they arrested Double on the state police arrest warrant for the alleged Concordia thefts. She was searched and found with a sunglass case, which contained two used syringes, a drug cooking spoon, crack pipe and other contraband.
A subsequent search at the Butler County Prison turned up a half pill of the narcotic painkiller Subutex that was in her bra.
Double has been in the county prison on $50,000 bail since her arrest on two felony counts of trespass and two misdemeanors counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, stemming from the state police case.
A preliminary hearing on those charges was set for today at District Judge Sue Haggerty’s office in Saxonburg.
