Trail gets grant from National Park ServiceWashington’s Trail 1753 for the second consecutive year has received a grant from the National Park Service.The historic group in Butler County will receive assistance through the Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program, according to a release from U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, R-3rd, of Butler.The grant will provide the group with resources and assistance from park service staff, which has an office in Morgantown, W.Va.It received a grant last year from the park service to work toward some of its long-term goals, including expanding the trail from Butler County to neighboring counties.Washington’s Trail 1753 commemorates George Washington’s travels through the region when he was a member of the British Army before the French and Indian War broke out.
