Reward offered in police shooting
HARMONY TWP, Beaver County — Investigators are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect who shot a Harmony Township police officer early Wednesday morning.
State police described the suspect as a light-skinned African-American male about 5-foot-10 to 6-foot tall with a thin build.
The township officer was shot at 3:34 a.m. after he encountered the man along Beaver Road. The officer confronted the suspect, believing he was attempting to break into a car.
The suspect allegedly pulled a gun from his waist band and fired a shot at the officer, striking him in the chest, police said.
The officer was wearing a bulletproof vest, which prevented serious injury.
The suspect was wearing sweat pants and a black hoodie with white writing on the chest.
The Beaver County District Attorney’s Office and Beaver County Crime Stoppers are offering up to a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information can contact state police in Beaver at 724-773-7400.
