The Mars High School varsity boys lacrosse team finished in first place at the recent 13th annual Pumpkin Classic held at Seneca Valley High School.

The Planets finished undefeated in the tournament, picking up wins of 13-2 over Pine-Richland, 11-2 over Penn-Trafford, 9-3 over Seneca Valley and 13-2 over Central Catholic to reach the finals.

Mars defeated North Allegheny, 9-4, to win the championship.

Comprising the Planets roster were seniors Gino Crognale, Patrick Morrow, Jacob Porter, Zac Sicher, Peter Stahl and Blake Thompson, juniors Jack Austin, Will Bayuk, Cord Bocheff, Joey Crognale, Joe Horvat, Ben Lewis and Jake Miller, sophomores Kyle Anderson, Anthony Grieco, Cade Hetzler and Hayden Vasbinder, and freshman Nate Smith.

LOS ANGELES — Three days after losing their leader to cancer, the Minnesota Timberwolves are making sure everyone knows that Flip Saunders is still with them.The Timberwolves unveiled a new shooting shirt for pregame warmups in their season opener against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday night. The gray shirts have “WE” written in big, block letters, with “FLIP” written over the heart.The “We over Me” was a Saunders concept.
