Green Party candidate raises, spends the least

The Butler County Bureau of Elections on Monday received the financial report for Green Party candidate for county commissioner Michael Bagdes-Canning of Cherry Valley.

Shari Brewer, director of elections, said the report was postmarked on time, so the report met the Friday deadline.

According to the report, between Sept. 17 and Oct. 19, his 2015 committee raised $2,239 and spent $305, leaving $1,934 left.

Bagdes-Canning also spent $250 of his own money on postage.

Here are contributions of $200 or more for Bagdes-Canning:

$500: Leonard Schoettker of Connoquenessing

$200: Stanley Lesser of Chicora.

He also received $200 total from two Green Party committees.

Of the money the committee spent, $165 went to Bagdes-Canning as reimbursement for printing costs and $140 went to Schoettker as reimbursement for the candidate filing fee.

Bagdes-Canning raised and spent much less than other candidates. The next lowest fundraiser was Democrat Jerry Johnston, who raised $4,682 and spent $3,559 between May 13 and Oct. 13.

Osche returns checkOn the financial report for Republican candidate Leslie Osche of Butler Township, it was noted her election committee received a $250 donation from Mission Critical Partners PAC of Port Matilda, Centre County.That is the political action committee of the company the county is contracting with to assist with updates to the county’s 911 radio system.Osche said her committee returned that money to avoid the appearance of a conflict, but the report was not updated in time.Osche, Bagdes-Canning, Johnston, Republican Kim Geyer and Democrat Kevin Boozel are competing for the three seats on the county board of commissioners in Tuesday’s election.
