SUMMIT TWP — Construction is nearly done on Butler Health System's new medical office building at the intersection of routes 422, 38, and 68.
This campus, to be renamed BHS' Crossroads Campus, will open Nov. 9.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Nov. 12 with building tours following. The public is invited to attend.
The Crossroads campus, consisting of the existing building at 127 Oneida Valley Road and the new building at 129 Oneida Valley Road, will allow Butler Health System to create an outpatient campus within a mile of the hospital.
The new 48,000-square foot, three-story office building will house a laboratory, X-ray, preadmission testing, BHS Surgical Associates, the Women's Imaging Center, BHS Women's Care Associates, and cancer care.
Cardiology services, including electrophysiology and cardiology testing, will remain in the current building.
Butler City Council is delaying its plans to appeal the new tax assessment of the Broad Street School.Mayor Tom Donaldson said the decision came on the recommendation of solicitor Jim Coulter, who said to wait until the former school is sold to a for-profit business to pursue the appeal.Council voted Thursday to appeal the decision by Butler County to lower the taxable value of the school. The Butler School District had two appraisals done on the property, producing values of $335,000 and $578,000. The county accepted the lower value for the new assessed value. If a for-profit business buys the building, the city would lose nearly $1,000 per year in taxes — down from about $2,300 to $1,300 — because of the lower assessment. The Center for Community Resources nonprofit had bid $150,000 for the school. However, that offer was rejected by the school board.
