Freeport's boys soccer team received a first-half goal from Mario Borino and one from Bryce Hanby in the second half as the Yellowjackets earned a 2-0 WPIAL Class AA play-in playoff victory at Mount Pleasant Saturday night.

Robbie Reichenbaugh and Adam Kvarta both contributed an assist while Austin Uric kept the Vikings (10-6-2) off the scoreboard with six saves.

Freeport (12-7) will face South Park (16-1-1) in a first-round game at 6 p.m. today at Thomas Jefferson High School.

Girls Soccer

Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic dropped a 2-1 WPIAL Class A first-round playoff decision to Charleroi at Canon-McMillan.

The Trojanettes finish the season with an overall record of 7-10-1. No other details were available.

South Fayette 5, Freeport 0 — The Yellowjackets (10-8-1) saw their season come to an end with a first-round road playoff loss to the Lions.

Behind Morgan Ruppersberger's 22 kills and 10 service points, Freeport defeated District 10 power Conneaut Area 3-2.

Kristie Radvan added nine kills, five blocks and 29 service points while Maggie Ward had 44 assists and 21 points for the Yellowjackets.
