PITTSBURGH — The district attorney has withdrawn “adult” charges against a 16-year-old girl accused of throwing gasoline on a high school security guard, and will move the case to juvenile court.

Assistant Allegheny County District Attorney Melissa Byrnes tells a Pittsburgh newspaper the teen will plead guilty and serve an unspecified sentence at the county’s juvenile detention center.

The teen was charged with aggravated assault and other crimes after police say she doused a Wilkinsburg High School guard with gasoline and tried to ignite it with a grill lighter before she was subdued Sept. 21.

[naviga:h3]Firefighter accused of burglary, theft[/naviga:h3]

PITTSBURGH — Police say a city firefighter broke into a social club he used to co-own and stole $1,000 from his former business partner.

Police say surveillance video shows 32-year-old John Farah entering the members-only Carrick Lit Club early Sunday.

Police say the owner identified the man on the video as Farah, saying he bought out the firefighter’s share of the business in March 2013.

Farah allegedly entered a safe to steal the money. The owner tells police he didn’t change the safe’s combination after he and Farah stopped being business partners.

Farah faces a preliminary hearing Oct. 28 on a charge of burglary.

The city says he was hired as a firefighter for $51,600 annually in January 2013.
