Butler PoliceMonday — Police charged Emily N. Sopel, 32, of Center Township with driving while drunk on alcohol and drugs stemming from a traffic accident this month on East Patterson Avenue.Officers got to the wreck about 3 a.m. Oct. 4 and learned that Sopel’s sport utility vehicle had hit a parked pickup truck. No one was injured.The suspect was arrested after failing field sobriety tests. She was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed her blood-alcohol level was 0.133 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. Additionally, the test indicated Sopel had marijuana and anti-anxiety prescription medication in her system.She is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and controlled substances, possession of a small amount of marijuana and careless driving.Monday — Justin T. Victor, 25, of Butler was charged in connection with a suspected hit-and-run crash about 7:10 a.m. Oct. 4 at Wagner Avenue and West Birch Street.Police suspect Victor did not stop after he ran a sign in his car and collided with a pickup truck. Officers eventually identified Victor, who is charged with hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.

State Police, Mercer8:50 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Mark D. Lechner, 63, of Erie struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township. Lechner was not hurt, but his car had to be towed.Wednesday — Four unlocked vehicles were broken into at their owners’ homes in Springfield Township. Police suspect the same thief is responsible. Stolen items included wedding rings, a laptop computer and an iPhone.Three vehicles — two at homes in the 2100 block of Leesburg Grove City Road and one at a home in the 300 block of Old Ash Road — were entered between 3 and 5 a.m. The fourth was broken into between noon and 12:30 p.m.Anyone with information is asked to call 724-662-6162.Tuesday — Police charged Brendon D. Schrubb, 19, of Clintonville with an altercation that left a Grove City boy with a broken nose. Schrubb on Sept. 29 allegedly head-butted the boy, who police did not identify, at the Grove City YMCA on Route 58 in Pine Township, Mercer County. Schrubb is charged with simple assault and harassment.Oct. 6 — A woman, who police did not identify is suspected of stealing $200 that was in a 50-year-old man’s briefcase at his home in the 200 block of Cole Road in Sandy Lake Township.
