CRANBERRY TWP — The Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau on Thursday elected its new executive committee.

Vicki Hinterberger will be the chairman, Roxann Booser the vice chairman, Paul Lueken as treasurer and Jake Weiland as secretary.

The board also approved the appointment of Ed Wethli to replace Kathy Allen to represent agriculture tourism. The board also approved the appointment of Ed Tanski to replace former Chairman Todd Wehr, who represented camping.

HARRISBURG — Pennsylvania state regulators say the cost of health insurance premiums will rise for most Pennsylvanians next year who buy individual plans, in some cases steeply.The Department of Insurance said Thursday that it has approved rates for 18 individual health insurance plans offered in Pennsylvania. Premiums in six plans offered by Pittsburgh-based Highmark, Wilkes-Barre-based Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania and Danville-based Geisinger will rise by more than 20 percent.Premiums in six plans will rise by less than 2 percent or drop.Now that some plans are subsidized by the federal government, analysts say insurers may have underestimated costs, while some plans may be attracting a higher proportion of heavy users of health care who were previously uninsured.Open enrollment begins Nov. 1 for the 2016 insurance year.

ATLANTA — UPS is raising ground, air and freight rates by averages of around 5 percent as it seeks to boost revenue that has stagnated this year.The Atlanta-based package delivery company said Thursday that on Oct. 26 freight rates will rise an average of 4.9 percent, and on Dec. 28, rates on ground shipping will increase 4.9 percent and air and international services will rise about 5.2 percent.United Parcel Service Inc. spokesman Steve Gaut said some large shipping customers or retail consumers could see larger or smaller increases than the averages, but he declined to give specifics. He said UPS needed the increases to cover rising labor and equipment costs and to be compensated fairly for its services.UPS will also boost surcharges for fuel and heavy packages.
