Butler Police8:05 p.m. Saturday — Matthew D. Straub, 26, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly entered a home on Second Street and surprised a woman who was preparing to take a shower.The woman, who lives there, told officers she heard a strange noise while in the bathroom and walked out to inspect. She found Straub standing in the living room. She yelled for him to “get out” and ran into her bedroom, the report said. The suspect fled. Police believe he may have gotten into the home through an unlocked front door. Nothing was taken.Officers about four hours later found Straub at his home in the 600 block of East Jefferson Street. The defendant, the report said, was arrested after providing several conflicting alibis about his whereabouts that night.Police said Straub was placed in the Butler County Prison on charges of trespass and loitering and prowling at night.6:04 p.m. Oct. 5 — Tasha M. Robinson, 23, who is homeless, allegedly left two empty stamp bags of heroin and other drug contraband in the waste basket at a pizza shop on North Main Street. Police said they later found Robinson sitting on steps in back of the shop. She was “highly impaired,” according to court documents.Robinson was arraigned on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness. She was placed in the Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail following arraignment.7:01 p.m. Oct. 3 — Shawna M. Bastian, 21, of Renfrew was arrested on a bench warrant in the 200 block of South Main Street. Officers searched her and found a baggie corner containing suspected crack cocaine, court documents said.Bastian, who was placed in the Butler County Prison on the warrant, faces a new charge of possession of a controlled substance.

Grove City PoliceMonday — Christine Ann Hertzog, 48, no address given, was arrested on two warrants stemming from a pair of bad checks cases in York County. Police said Hertzog was later turned over to a state constable out of York County.Monday — A black Money Network Visa debit card was found at Memorial Park and turned in to police. The owner can claim the card by calling police at 724-458-7925.Sunday — An unknown vandal damaged a garage door at a home in the 400 block of North Broad Street. The vandalism happened between 4 and 10:30 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call police.2:35 a.m. Saturday — Jerome P. West, 33, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol on Mill Street. Police said in addition to DUI, West faces charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, driving with an open container of alcohol and careless driving.

State Police, Butler6:30 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Gerald M. Watterson, 29, of Kittanning struck a deer on Route 422 just west of Old Route 422 in Clearfield Township.Sunday — An unknown thief stole several packages of meat from the freezer of a home on New Hope Road in Cherry Township. The meat as well as a Dremel brand tool were taken from the 48-year-old man’s home between 6:30 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.Sunday — A pickup truck bed cover was reportedly stolen from the parking area of University Village on Kiester Road in Slippery Rock Township. The cover is a Tonneau brand. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Sunday — An unknown vandal used a blunt object to break a window at Keystone Spring Service on New Castle Road in Muddy Creek Township. Anyone with information is asked to call police.12:45 p.m. Saturday — A 19-year-old Crawford County man was caught trying to buy alcohol with a fake ID card at the Fine Wine and Good Spirits store in Slippery Rock. The suspect, Jeremy Santarelli, was cited for carrying a false identification card.4:37 p.m. Oct. 5 — Rachel Ann Dotts, 24, of New Castle was arrested after allegedly trying to use a bogus urine sample during a drug screening test at the state parole office in Center Township. Dotts was arraigned on a charge of attempting to furnish drug-free urine and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail.

State Police, Franklin1:24 p.m. Monday — An Emlenton woman with a history of shoplifting was arrested for the same crime after she allegedly tried to steal $37 worth of dog food and disposable diapers from the Walmart in Cranberry Township, Venango County.The suspect, 34-year-old Bonnie Jean Smith, was previously banned from the store for a previous theft there, according to a police report.Police said Smith faces charges of felony retail theft and misdemeanor trespass. Venango County Court records showed she has five shoplifting convictions.She was placed in the Venango County Jail on a probation violation following her arrest Monday.5:54 a.m. Saturday — A car driven by a New York man crashed into an embankment on Interstate 80 in Barkeyville. Police suspect the driver, Fegens Prenelon, 27, of Brooklyn, fell asleep at the wheel. He was cited for careless driving.

State Police, Kittanning6:01 p.m. Saturday — The side mirror of a sport utility vehicle struck the side mirror of a pickup truck parked on Main Street near Bear Street in Worthington. Police said the SUV driver, Alvin L. Garmer, 82, of Tarentum, Allegheny County, did not stop after the accident.The pickup driver, Thomas K. McLaughlin, 40, of Worthington, was in his truck and followed the SUV long enough to obtain its license plate number.

State Police, Mercer1:30 p.m. Friday — An unidentified vehicle struck an unoccupied pickup in the Sheetz store parking lot in Pine Township, Mercer County. The unknown driver did not stop after the crash.
