HARRISBURG — State transportation officials say driver license and photo centers will be closed for the Columbus Day holiday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation says all driver license and photos centers, will be closed Saturday through Monday.

Some driver and vehicle products and services will be available only at the PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services website, www.dmv.pa.gov.

People can renew driver licenses, photo IDs and vehicle registration online.

MOUNT LEBANON — A judge has ordered Mount Lebanon to end its controlled archery hunt in a local park.An Allegheny County judge on Monday granted a request from neighboring Scott Township to stop Mount Lebanon's contractor from shooting deer in Twin Hills Park as part of an effort to reduce collisions between deer and vehicles. The judge ordered Mount Lebanon to immediately put up posters making it clear that hunting is prohibited in the park, which is located within the border of Scott Township.Officials say Scott Township granted Mount Lebanon a conditional use permit for the 25-acre park in 1994 that was limited to recreational uses. Mount Lebanon manager Steve Feller has said that the municipality doesn't need Scott Township's permission to hunt.

MARKLETON — Emergency officials said a Pennsylvania man is recovering after he was found in an old railroad tunnel along the Great Allegheny Passage trail two days after his motorized wheelchair broke down and stranded him. Somerset County emergency management officials on Monday could not immediately provide updated information on Sunday's rescue.The man was stranded in the Pinkerton Tunnel and an ambulance couldn't get to him because the tunnel is too small for such vehicles. Crews used an all-terrain vehicle to get to him.The man was taken to Somerset Hospital with chills and dehydration but is expected to recover. The Great Allegheny Passage begins in Pittsburgh and meets the C&O Canal towpath in western Maryland, enabling people to walk or bike from Pittsburgh to Washington.
