Butler Police2 a.m. Friday — Surena E. Frank, 30, of Butler was arrested after she allegedly broke into a home in the 400 block of Negley Avenue and assaulted two occupants.Frank is accused of hitting Al Mastrocesare and Jamie Feagin before taking Feagin’s cell phone, valued at $200. Officers found Frank with the phone following her arrest, according to court documents.She was arraigned on a felony charge, two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and a misdemeanor charge of theft. She was released on nonmonetary bail following arraignment.7:51 p.m. Thursday — Gregory P. Mazzanti, 33, of Butler and Brandy L. Williams, 29, who is homeless, were arrested on charges they shoplifted items from the Family Dollar store at Pullman Square.Police were called after employees spotted a man and woman using a knife to cut open packages and cut off price tags of merchandise, according to court documents. Officers identified the suspects as Mazzanti and Williams.Employees recovered 21 items totaling $113 from the suspects. Police noted that the merchandise packaging had been opened.Both defendants are charged with conspiracy to commit retail theft, a felony.Mazzanti, who has four prior convictions for shoplifting also is charged with a felony count of retail theft. Williams, who has at least one prior shoplifting conviction, is charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft.The defendants were arraigned and placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail each.11:03 a.m. Thursday — Cars driven by Gary L. Sasse, 68, of Sarver and David T. Pesci, 24, of Gibsonia collided at East Jefferson and Franklin streets. Police cited Sasse for a stop sign violation.4:15 p.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Samantha A. Best, 22, of Butler and David J. Csizmadia, 49, of Center Township collided at Hansen and Goldwood avenues.

State Police, ButlerFriday — A thief stole a .357-caliber stainless steel revolver, an Uncle Mike’s brand holster and a box of ammunition from a man’s pickup truck at a home on Eau Claire Road in Marion Township. The property, valued at $908, was taken between Sept. 26 and Friday. Police have no suspects.

State Police, Franklin2:11 p.m. Sunday — A Lackawanna County woman was badly hurt when she lost control of her sport utility vehicle, which crashed and rolled repeatedly on Interstate 80 in Barkeyville. Kathryn J. Blake, 25, of Jermyn, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown, Ohio, with a “major injury.”Blake was eastbound on I-80 when her 2003 Honda CR-V went off the berm and overturned. The SUV rolled five or more times across the median, traveling about 560 feet. Her condition was not known this morning.The Clintonville Volunteer Fire Department, Superior Ambulance and PennDOT assisted at the scene.

State Police, KittanningSaturday — A three-dimensional whitetail deer target was stolen from a Karns City man’s home in the 300 block of Queenstown Road in Perry Township, Armstrong County. The theft happened between 4 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. Saturday.6:43 a.m. Friday — Anita L. Stewart, 54, of Worthington was hurt when a car rear-ended the sport utility vehicle she was driving on Route 422 in East Franklin Township. Stewart, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. The other driver, Cody J. Rearick, 19, of Worthington, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.Friday — A thief stole a pink Apple iPod and a small folding knife from a vehicle in the 1100 block of Butler Road in East Franklin Township. The property, valued at $150, was taken between 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 6:30 a.m. Friday.

State Police, MercerSunday — A burglar stole two .22-caliber rifles, a green gun safe and money from a woman’s home on Irishtown Road in Pine Township. Police noted that the home was occupied when it was burglarized between 12:01 and 6 a.m.5:11 p.m. Saturday — A minivan driven by Kelly J. Martin, 49, of Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, and a sport utility vehicle driven by Jack W. Lindey, 20, of Grove City collided at Airport Road and Hurd Lane in Liberty Township, Mercer County. Martin was cited for driving on the wrong side of the road.4:05 a.m. Saturday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Douglas N. Haines, 31, of Grove City crashed into several trees along North College Road in Jackson Township, Mercer County. Haines told police that the wreck happened when he swerved his vehicle to avoid deer on the road.Saturday — A thief stole the license plate off a vehicle on No. 2 Mine Road in Springfield Township. The vehicle had been parked there for three months and police did not know when the theft happened.Sept. 26 — A .357-caliber Ruger was stolen from a vehicle at a parking lot in the 400 block of East Gilmore Road in Wolf Creek Township. The gun, owned by a Grove City man, was taken Sept. 25 or 26.

State Police, New Castle6:32 p.m. Thursday — Jeanne A. Glenn, 45, of Grove City swerved her car to avoid another vehicle that pulled in front of her and struck an embankment on Route 208 at Shaw Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County.
