John C. Smith
John C. Smith, 80, of Butler passed away Thursday at home after a lengthy illness.
His family celebrates his final journey to his heavenly home.
He was born July 20, 1935, in Oak Ridge, Pa.
He was an awesome husband, father, PaPa, friend, and, most importantly, a servant of his Heavenly Father.
He was selfless and always thinking, and doing for others. He was passionate in his discovery for truth whether in the spiritual or physical realms.
He and Barb co-founded The Freedom of Choice in Cancer Therapy group, in Butler, where he gave much of his time and heart to find a nonconventional treatment for whatever ailed them for more than 40 years.
He was the inventor of the H2Only Water Distiller.
John's favorite hobby was video taping celebrations, special occasions, and Butler High School wrestling matches.
He worked at Pullman Standard in the paint department for 25 years.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1957 and was in the Army Reserves from 1970 to 1982.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara J. (Davis) Smith, who he married on Aug. 30, 1958; one daughter, Diane Sheehan; one son, Jeffrey C. Smith; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three sisters and three brothers.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Smith, who passed away on Sept. 5, 1964, and by his son, Gregory A. Smith, who passed away on Sept. 8, 1985.
SMITH — Friends of John C. Smith, who died on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. North St., Butler, with the Rev. Eric Park and the Rev. Tim Goodman, of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.Private burial will take place in the Mt.
