GIBSONIA — Helen Galbreath was crowned Ms. Quality Life and Gary Hughes was crowned Mr. Quality Life during the 2015 Mr. and Ms. Quality Life Pageant.
Galbreath is a resident of Fair Winds Manor who was born in 1922. Hughes is a resident of South Fayette Nursing Center and was born in 1943.
The pageant, presented by the nonprofit organization Don’t Stop Dreamin’, featured talent, personality and formalwear rounds, and was judged by a panel including Dennis Bowman, meteorologist; Ashley Schmider, Miss Pennsylvania 2015; and Melissa Urioste, chief operating officer of Blue Sky Therapy.
The 18 contestants were residents of nine area long-term care communities owned by Quality Life Services. They showcased a variety of talents including poetry, musical performances and comedy.

DAVENPORT, Fla. — Lanaya Barnes, 16, of Butler recently took a trip to visit Florida theme parks.
She has been diagnosed with severe autism and psychotic disorder. The Sunshine Foundation made the trip possible. Lanaya with her parents, Michelle and Craig Barnes, and her sister, Julie visited Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando.
The foundation grants wishes of ill children.
