30-acre site to be developed

FRANKLIN TWP — A local company plans to develop a 30-acre site along Route 422.

Jeff Langer, co-owner of DemEx Demolition and Excavating, said the company plans to build its new headquarters and bring other businesses to the vacant property bordered by Route 422, Pflugh Road and Whipporwill Road.

Though the company has yet to propose any structures, the township planning commission Tuesday approved a land development plan that would allow the company to do grading, add a drainage pond and access roads.

The commission voted to recommend the plan to the board of supervisors with the condition that it must be approved by the Butler County Conservation District.

Langer said grading may begin this fall.

DemEx currently has a Zelienople post office box, but does not have its own building. Its headquarters will take up 8 acres.

The property is zoned for commercial use and could be used by a variety of business types, though no agreements are in place, Langer said.

The property will be called Butler West Business Park.
