Sex offender jailed on registration rule
FRANKLIN TWP — A township man is in prison following his arrest for failing to register as a sex offender.
State police Sunday arrested 33-year-old Kison L. Ironcloud at his home on Country Club Road.
Authorities recently learned that Ironcloud in June had moved here from the state of California, where he was previously convicted of a crime that required his lifetime registration as a sexual offender, according to court documents.
Police said the defendant on June 8 reported to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department that he was moving to his current home in the 7200 block of Country Club Road.
Under Pennsylvania law, court-deemed sexual offenders — whether convicted in the commonwealth or not — must register person al information with state police.
That mandated disclosure includes an offender’s home address, employment information and vehicle registration.
Authorities said Ironcloud admitted that he knew of the registration requirement but that he had never advised police of his new home, where he had been living for “at least two months,” documents said.
Court records showed that Ironcloud’s 2013 conviction in California was for possession or control of obscene matter depicting minors in sexual conduct.
District Judge Sue Haggerty arraigned Ironcloud on three counts of failing to comply with requirements of being a sexual offender.
He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $30,000 bail.
