BUTLER COUNTY — If you are looking to make new holiday memories, the Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau has created an opportunity to do just that.

The bureau is bringing Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland from Bristol, Tenn., to the Big Butler Fairgrounds for the holiday season.

It is a light show that combines technology, lights and music with custom built and animated elements with LED lights.

Jack Cohen, president of the bureau, said the light show is “Christmas lights on steroids.”

Josh Hawk, director of marketing for Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland, said Butler County and the Pittsburgh area is a place where the company has not been before. The company has shows in other cities such as Asheville, N.C., Sevierville, Tenn., Greenville, S.C., Charlotte, N.C., and Birmingham, Ala.

Hawk said the bureau helped put the pieces together to make the show possible.

The show will start to be built at the beginning of October, Hawk said. It will take about a month and a half to get ready to open Nov. 20. It will run until Jan. 3.

The light show will be on a three-mile route through the fairgrounds, Cohen said.

Cohen said there is an agreement to have the light show in the county for five years.

This is a regional attraction, not just one for Butler County, Cohen said. With the fairgrounds on Route 422 and near Interstate 79, it can potentially draw people from Erie, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Youngstown.
