CRANBERRY TWP — The third Fossil-free Energy Fair Saturday is to show the economic and climate benefits of alternative forms of energy

The free fair, which runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Kohl's store, is sponsored by Marcellus Outreach Butler (MOB) in cooperation with Sustainable Enterprise Accelerator and the Beaver County Marcellus Awareness Committee.

The theme of the fair is “Driving to a New Energy Future.”

Added to the fair this year is an electric car show and cruise.

Electric car owners can show off their cars of all electric and plug-in varieties. Manufacturers such as Tesla will display models.

Gregg Winks of SUNWPA will make a presentation on how to solarize a home or business. Another presentation will be on how to take advantage of the PA Power choice program to sign-up for renewable energy for home or business.

The short documentary series “Sustainability Pioneers” will be shown about what steps people can take to address climate crisis. The series by documentary filmmaker Kirsi Jansa was funded in part by the Heinz Endowment.

Zero Fossil, a portable power provider, will supply solar generated power for the event.

Also participating will be solar installers, energy choice suppliers and political groups.

HARRISBURG — The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has granted the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center's request for an expedited appeal in UPMC's battle over Highmark's Medicare Advantage rates.UPMC is appealing a Commonwealth Court judge's order that says UPMC must maintain in-network rates until 2019 for people insured by Medicare Advantage plans sold through insurer Highmark.
