APOLLO — Nathan Falcetti shot a 4-over par 76 to help the Butler County Community College golf team beat the Community College of Allegheny Boyce Campus and CCAC North recently.
Jake Campbell (Butler), Alec Geibel (Butler), Nathan Hoshak (Moniteau) and Tad Myers (Knoch) recorded scores of 77, 78, 82 and 82 for the Pioneers.
BC3 will play again Friday at the Norvelt Golf Club.
ERIE — The Butler County Community College women's volleyball team produced a 25-17, 16-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-8 road win Wednesday night at Mercyhurst Northeast.Baylee Verner recorded 13 digs, four blocks, 12 assists and six kills for the Pioneers (7-0).Alexis Schrecengost and Macy Smolic also recorded eight kills apiece for BC3.
ERIE — Seneca Valley graduate Anthony Crivelli registered his third goal of the season in the 56 minute for Penn State Behrend, helping the Lions beat Grove City College Wednesday night at home.Crivelli's goal was set up by a cross from Kevin Vock.
NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Slippery Rock High School graduate Abby Magliocca, a freshman on the Point Park University women's soccer team, scored the tying goal in a 2-2 tie at Walsh Wednesday.Magliocca's tally came with five minutes left in regulation. Point Park (2-0-1) wound up playing to the double-overtime tie.
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is not ready to play for the New York Giants.Coach Tom Coughlin announced the decision after the team examined the right hand that Pierre-Paul injured in a fireworks accident on the July Fourth holiday.While saying Pierre-Paul was in good shape and in an outstanding frame of mind after reporting Monday, Coughlin said the team did not feel he was ready to come back. Coughlin says there is no timetable for his return.
TORONTO — The World Cup of Hockey is coming back, and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman insists that doesn't necessarily mean the league will skip the 2018 Olympics.While Bettman didn't sound enthused about the idea of the league's players going to Pyeongchang, South Korea, he acknowledged being intrigued by the prospects of taking the sport to the other side of the world for the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
