GROVE CITY — State Rep. Tedd Nesbit, R-8th, will host three free breakfasts to hear about the concerns of residents age 60 and older.

They will begin at 8:30 a.m. and last for about 90 minutes. Scheduled are:

• Aug. 21, Grantham's Landing, 1738 Georgetown Road, Sandy Lake. Reservations are due Friday.

• Aug. 28, Unionville Fire Hall, 102 Mahood Road, Center Township. Reservations are due Aug. 14.

• Sept. 10, Pine Township Engine Company, 1252 South Center Street Ext., Grove City. Reservations are due Sept. 3. Those interested should call Nesbit's Grove City office at 724-458-4911. Residents also can fill out a form at www.RepNesbit.com.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University recently received a $91,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.SRU will combine the grant with $30,333 in matching funds from Economics Pennsylvania to create a summer camp program for high school students next year to be called “Healthy Planet, Healthy People,” according to a media release.The weeklong camp is will be in June and include sessions at the McKeever Environmental Center at Sandy Lake, the Jennings Environmental Education Center, Moraine State Park, McConnells Mill State Park and SRU's Robert A. Macoskey Center for Sustainable Systems Education and Research.SRU officials hope the camp attracts 120 student and teacher participants.

BRADY TWP — The Old Stone House will host Conflict on the Venango, a French and Indian War encampment, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.The annual event includes a living history encampment, military demonstrations and battle re-enactments.The Venango Trail was an American Indian path that went from the Ohio River north to Lake Erie and passed through the vicinity of Old Stone House and was traveled by troops during the war.The Old Stone House is a historic site owned and operated by Slippery Rock University.
