Raylene J. George

Raylene J. George, 77, of Mercer, Coolspring Township, passed away at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday at UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh.

Born Aug. 12, 1937, in Center Township, she was the daughter of Ray C. Weitzel and Margaret L. Somerville Weitzel.

On Nov. 14, 1953, she married Christian E. George Sr., who preceded her in death on March 13, 1996.

She retired from Penn Traffic as a supervisor.

Raylene attended the Mercer United Methodist Church, Mercer, and was a member of the Mercer VFW Ladies Auxiliary

She is survived by three daughters, Debra and her husband, Larry Mathieson, of Mercer, Diane and her husband, Robert Palmer, of Mercer and Margaret George of Boyers; two sons, Christian George Jr. of Mercer, Curtis George of Grove City; four sisters, Delores Weitzel of Grove City, Loretta Westaway of California, Margaret Fritz of Butler and Beverly and her husband, William Graff, of Saxonburg; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and one brother, William Weitzel.

GEORGE — There will be no visitation for Raylen J. George, who died Tuesday, June 30, 2015.A celebration of life service will be at 11:30 a.m. July 11 at the Mercer United Methodist Church, 250 E. Butler Street, Mercer. The Rev. Brian Keller, pastor of Mercer United Methodist Church, will officiate.Arrangements are handled by the Cunningham Funeral Home, 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer.
