Vivian Sue “Viv” Kalberer, 75, of Butler passed away at 10:50 a.m. Thursday at her home.

She was born Dec. 29, 1939, in Butler to the late Samuel Joseph Turner and the late Margaret Elizabeth (Watterson) Turner.

Vivian was a graduate of Butler High School, and then she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy.

She worked at various pharmacies in the Butler area, including Butler Memorial Hospital, but was primarily the pharmacist/director of pharmacy at VA Butler Health Care, retiring Jan. 28, 2000.

Following her retirement, she worked as the church secretary at the North Street Christian Church. She had attended the North Street Christian Church since 1945, being baptized on Easter Sunday in 1951.

At the church, she served as a deaconess and was active in various ministries. Vivian enjoyed spending time with her family, cross-stitching, water aerobics, tennis, reading, audio book listening and Bible study.

Mrs. Kalberer is survived by one son, Kenneth Jay Kalberer and his wife, Lisa, of Butler; one daughter, Kristianne Ovenshine and her husband, Gordon, of Cranberry Township; four grandchildren, Samuel Ovenshine of Chicago, Ill., Emily Ovenshine Kurlak and her husband, John, of Seattle, Wash., and Benjamin and Rebekah Kalberer of Butler; two sisters, Iris Wood and her husband, Jim, of Butler and Twila Cypher and her husband, Chester, of Medina, Ohio; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth William Kalberer; two sisters, Peggy Thoma and Marjory McCune; and one brother, Samuel John Turner.

KALBERER — Friends of Vivian Sue “Viv” Kalberer, who died Thursday, June 18, 2015, will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the North Street Christian Church, 220 W. North Street, Butler, with Pastor Bob Huber of the North Street Christian Church officiating. Private burial will take place in the Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the American Cancer Society of Butler, P.O. Box 2305, Butler, PA 16003, the Butler Blind Association, 322 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001 or the North Street Christian Church, 220 W.
