Teen dancer earns spot as assistant with group
PENN TWP — Shannon Currie, daughter and stepdaughter of Patty and Troy Strezeski of Penn Township, recently auditioned at the Nationals for Artist Simply Human (ASH) convention and was chosen to be an assistant to professional choreographers and to perform on stage and to travel with the convention for the 2015-16 tour.
Six senior age dancers, eight intermediate age and three artist-in-training dancers where chosen from the top dancers at each regional convention from the 2014-2015 tour year for an assistant with ASH.
ASH is a dance convention that is about the art of dance and participants learn different styles of dance taught by professional choreographers, as well as a dance showcase, competition and scholarship opportunities.
Shannon also will perform with Millennium Dance Complex Pittsburgh at a Millennium Dance Showcase in Los Angeles in August. The dance group will take classes at the Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles and be mentored by professionals in the dance industry.
Shannon was accepted to attend her junior and senior years at the Lincoln Park Performing Arts High School in Beaver County for dance. She also will continue dancing with the Competitive Dance team at Elite Dance by Damian in Warrendale.
