Pvt. Michael R. Choate-Speckert, 19, of Butler graduated from U.S. Marine Corps boot camp July 2 at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island.

While in recruit training, Choate-Speckert achieved the following: Rifle Sharpshooter and Recruit Religious Lay Leader.

Following 10 days on leave, he will report for military combat training, then military occupation specialty school.

Choate-Speckert plans to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Military Police.

Choate-Speckert is a 2014 Butler High School graduate. He is the son of Susan and Mark Sarver of Butler and Steven Speckert of Polson, Mo.
