Man found passed out in home
EAST FRANKLIN TWP, Armstrong County — A Sugarcreek Township man was arrested early Monday morning after being found passed out in a home on Firehouse Lane.
Zachary Piper, 19, is charged with burglary and trespassing, both felonies.
Sgt. William Evans of the East Franklin Township police said Piper entered an unlocked door at the house and passed out on the couch, apparently thinking that it was his sister’s house. A woman who lived there woke up to discover Piper and called 911.
Evans, along with state police, arrived to take him into custody. Evans said Piper would not give any information initially.
“He was very uncooperative and belligerent,” Evans said.
However, Piper did tell police to be careful of his shoulder, which he said suffered a gunshot in New Kensington. Evans said Piper was discovered with a gunshot wound in his shoulder last September in Ford City.
Piper at the time claimed that he was shot in New Kensington and was driven by a friend to Ford City.
Police in Ford City still have an open investigation in that case, Evans said.
Evans said Piper on Monday claimed to have consumed alcohol the night before, but drugs may be involved too.
Piper is in the Armstrong County Jail on $10,000 unsecured bail. This is Piper’s third arrest in Armstrong County in the past year, Evans said.
