Thomas Elmer Love
Thomas Elmer Love, 70, of Sarver went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 6 from complications stemming from a severe stroke while visiting his son, Alexander, in California on March 8.
Tom was born Nov. 17, 1944, and was a 1962 Freeport High School graduate. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Hopewell during the Vietnam War. During that time, he met and married the love of his life, Janet, in 1966.
Completing his bachelor's degree in education at the San Diego State University in 1973, he moved his family back to Pennsylvania.
He was a Freeport School District teacher, primarily teaching third grade for about 15 years and then eighth-grade science for another 16 years.
As well as being a respected and beloved teacher, he was also an avid and accomplished welder and metal worker, learning the trade from his father and brothers. Tom was involved in his church, held his family and friends in the highest regard, enjoyed traveling, hunting, riding his motorcycles and just had an overall love for life.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Marvin Love; his mother, Gladys Emily Turner Love; his brothers, David William Love and Robert LeRoy Love.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Elizabeth Parker Love; one daughter and her husband, Kathryn Ann Love Myers and Michael John Myers; one son and his wife, Alexander Charles Love and Nychole Rochelle Stoutemire Love; four grandsons and wives, Jonathan Thomas Myers and Hope Marie Brindle Myers, David Michael Myers and Joanna Ruth Hartwell Myers, Zachary Eugene Myers and Christopher Lee Myers; one brother and his wife, Ralph Marvin Love and Lucile Jane Jordan Love; one sister, Dora Elva Love Mohney; one sister-in-law, Joanne Louise Leidy Love; as well as many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
LOVE — A celebration of life ceremony and memorial service for Thomas Elmer Love, who died May 6, 2015, will be at 9:30 a.m. June 27 at the Zion Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver.A time of fellowship, with coffee and goodies will follow the service.The family asks that in lieu of flowers, etc., donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project.Arrangements were handled by the Love family.
