Power outage affects 1,500 customers, BlueSox game
About 1,500 West Penn Power customers lost power for about an hour early Sunday evening.
Todd Meyers, a company spokesman, said that the outage took place at 6:30 p.m. and affected customers in the western part of Butler to the Highfield neighborhood in Butler Township.
A brief, but heavy thunderstorm came though the area around that time. Meyers said an issue at the Hansen Avenue substation caused the outage. Workers replaced two fuses at the station to fix the outage.
About this same time, power went out during the Butler BlueSox game at Kelly Automotive Park.
Between a downpour and the power interruption, the game was delayed for 90 minutes.
