“I think the best thing that I learned from my father was how to make important life decisions,” said the Rev. Kimberly van Driel, new pastor at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.

“My dad taught us and modeled for us how to do research when research was needed about practical topics like finance or other things like that, as well as being realistic about other things such as feelings, values, personality and things of that sort,” van Driel said.

“And he always taught us to take our time. I very much learned how to delay gratification, I think, in service of something more purposeful,” she added.

“And so he is someone I still call when I am thinking about something major, have a big decision to make. I love my dad,” said van Driel.
