Butler Catholic students take 1st at festival
PITTSBURGH — Butler Catholic School’s seventh- and eighth-grade literature students received first place at the Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English Festival at Duquesne University.
Out of more than 1,400 public and private school students competing from the area, Butler Catholic’s 41 students managed to win first place in the May 14 event.
The students had to have advanced comprehension of six pre-selected novels for the event.
Participating in teams of three to five students, the teams each competed in three events to test their knowledge of each of the six novels.
