MUDDY 5K

Participants in the first Muddy 5K in 2014 slog their way toward the finish line. This year the event will be held Sunday morning.
Obstacles await runners

Who says Jeeps alone can have fun in the mud?

Building on its success last year when it unveiled the first Bantam Jeep Muddy 5K Race, the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is gearing up for another race that will include even more mud at 8 a.m. Sunday.

The race is made possible by Fox’s Pizza Den, the U.S. Marines Recruiting Station/Pittsburgh and John Marshall Catering.

“The inaugural race in 2014 was a lot of fun, and we received terrific feedback from the participants who loved the mud pit, sliding under Jeeps, and the trails throughout the campground,” said festival committee member Rodney Schaffer.

“This is a great race for families and friends to do together that is challenging yet fun and muddy.”

Runners will face challenging obstacles, including tires, cargo nets, steep hills, wooded trails and more. The Jeep Playground and mud pit also will be included for more obstacles and more mud.

Medals will be awarded to the top three finishers in all age classes, plus the top male and female finishers overall.

The on-site registration fee is $55 and registration will be from 6:30 to 7:45 a.m. Sunday.
