LIBERTY TWP, Mercer County — A 25-year-old man suffered a bad case of “road rash” when he tried to get his cell phone and money back from two strong-armed robbers fleeing in a car just north of the Butler County line, authorities said.

The suspected victim, Dyonte Hayes-Flynn of Farrell, briefly held onto the getaway car about 3:05 p.m. Saturday before he was thrown off and onto Route 258 at East Valcourt Road in Liberty Township, according to a state police report.

Hayes-Flynn ended up at Grove City Medical Center with injuries to his back, arms and hand.

Troopers found the injured man at the scene of the suspected crime. He told police he had been riding in a car with two men and a woman. He apparently did not know their names.

Hayes-Flynn said they drove together to a home near Route 258 at East Valcourt Road. They all got out but moments later the two men attacked him, according to a police report,

He said he fought back but the alleged attackers took his phone, identification cards and money. The suspects then got back into the car.

“He indicated that he saw that the passenger side rear window of the vehicle was down,” the report said. He lunged into the car and tried to get his property back.

The car sped up, he recounted, and headed south on Route 258.

“The victim indicated that he held on for a short distance before he let go,” the report said, “and was thrown from the vehicle onto the roadway.”

Police said Hayes-Flynn had a “large amount” of road rash on his back and arms. He also had what appeared to be a bite mark on one of his hands.

He described his attackers as white. One man was 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a medium build and the other was 6 feet, 1 inch or 6 feet, 2 inches tall with a heavy build.

The taller man was possibly wearing a Philadelphia Eagles jersey with the name “Vick” on the back.

The third suspect, he said, was a white woman in her early 20s. She had a thin build, long dark brown or black hair, and several tattoos.

He described the car as a dark blue or black Chevrolet Malibu or Chevrolet Cobalt.
